Shawn Roofian, MD is an experienced physician, speaker, and assistant professor specializing in pain medicine at Integrated Pain Management, with locations in Glendale, Beverly Hills, and Tarzana, California.

Dr. Roofian grew up in Los Angeles and earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles before completing medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He performed both an anesthesia residency and a fellowship in pain medicine at the University of Southern California, where he was a  assistant professor, teaching residents and fellows the intricacies of anesthesiology and pain management.

Over his career, Dr. Roofian has gained extensive experience as a presenter, speaking at anesthesia and pain conferences . His interest in ketamine treatments and infusions has led to speaking engagements on its use and treatment protocols, and how to identify appropriate candidates for ketamine treatment. Dr. Roofian is also retained on various legal cases for his expertise in pain medicine.

Besides treating patients and teaching, Dr. Roofian is involved in multiple research studies evaluating cutting-edge modalities for complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and the use of genomics to recognize a patient’s response to opioids and identify who might be at risk of abuse.

Dr. Roofian’s professional interests involve advanced interventional pain treatments for chronic pain in the low back, neck, and spine, as well as chronic pain associated with cancer and neuromodulation. He’s the director of the Ketamine Medical Institute and has developed custom ketamine treatment protocols for numerous patients.
